Media criticism of GPs is unjustified

‘The media and politicians should be supporting our hard-working GPs’
• I WOULD like to shower praise on Hampstead Group Practice in Fleet Road.
The receptionists are always so helpful and kind. They go out of their way to answer all my questions and help me get any treatment or medications I need.
Despite the pressure all GPs are under I usually manage to get a telephone conversation or appointment with a doctor the day after I make contact. What more could you ask for?
My family and I have found emails, phone calls and Zoom normally provide an adequate substitute for face-to-face consultations. But on occasions the surgery invite me to a face-to-face meeting when they think it is necessary.
The continual media criticism of GPs is completely unjustified in my experience. The media and politicians should be supporting our hard-working GPs instead of stirring up criticism of them.
I can’t help suspecting that the constant sniping is part of an orchestrated campaign to undermine confidence in the National Health Service and prepare public opinion for the next stage of privatisation.
