AND with a hoop, skip and a jump there were medals galore as boys and girls from across the borough enjoyed two action-packed sports tournaments – courtesy of the Camden Schools Sports Association (CSSA).

The boys’ team from St Aloysius Junior School in Somers Town and the girls’ team from Primrose Hill Primary School were jumping for joy after winning the 3-on-3 basketball championships, which were held at the Talacre Community Sports Centre in Kentish Town.

There was a double dunking delight for Primrose Hill as their boys’ team returned to their school in Princess Road clutching the elusive Basketball Plate, an honour which was won by St Eugene de Mazenod in Kilburn in the girls’ competition.

The action didn’t stop there with almost 350 primary school children taking part in the CSSA Sports Hall Athletics Championships, which were held at the Somers Town Community Sports Centre.

Yet again, all that is Gospel Oak came up gold as the school in Mansfield Road won the title for the 15th consecutive year. They will now represent Camden in the Inner London finals at the Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park tomorrow (Friday).

After taking part a series of events, including the javelin, the triple jump, obstacle relays and sprint relays, Rosary School in Belsize Park finished as runners-up, while St Aloysius were third.

Both competitions was supported by Camden Sport and Physical Activity Team and volunteers from Camden’s NVQ programme.
