JUNIOR runners representing the Highgate Harriers were certainly happy in Hayes on Sunday after they won a mighty medal haul at the Middlesex Young Athletes Road Relay Championships.

Coached by one of the club’s great cross-country runners, Kate Jenrick, Highgate entered eight teams into the competition and came away from Minet Country Park clutching six medals.

Dorothy Brock earnt herself the fastest leg of the day as she anchored the winning Under-13s girls ‘A’ team, while Highgate’s ‘B’ team finished third to take bronze. Highgate’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams were even closer in the girls Under-15s race as they finished second and third respectively.

The boys Under-13s boys team secured a silver medal in their race, before the Under-17s men’s team ensured the day ended in glory by taking gold.
