A SMALL group of masters swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club collected medals of every colour at the weekend as they made a splash at the ASA National Championships, held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Competing in the 30 to 34 years age category, Jessica Thorpe was among the perfect pool performers as she clinched an impressive gold medal in the 800m freestyle with a time of 9:44.13.

Open-water specialist Nuala Muir-Cochrane also made the podium as she made a successful return to pool racing. Challenging in the 50-54 years age category, she took silver in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 19:54.47.

In the shorter events, sprint specialist Celia Marcadal powered to double bronze in the 50m backstroke and the 50m freestyle in the 25-29 years category.

She also finished fourth in the 100m freestyle and fifth in the 100m backstroke.

Sara McGrath and Chris Hopton also put in strong swims despite missing out on the medals in their respective age categories.
