CRICKET fans from across Camden and Islington were bowled over on Sunday when a team of very special guests turned up at Hampstead Cricket Club for a game.

The England women’s squad at Hampstead

The England women’s cricket squad put on a masterclass and taster session for female players at Hampstead’s home ground in Lymington Road before taking on Carson’s HCC Select XI in a fun-filled 25 overs contest. 

There was also a jazz band and a barbecue in what Hampstead chairman and actor Jim Carter, who plays butler Charles Carson in Downton Abbey, described as “a celebration of women’s cricket.”
