Martial arts marvels! – Karate kids’ medal haul

A SUPER squad of young martial artists returned home from the Meopham Open Championships in Kent laden with seven golds, one silver and seven bronze medals.
Students from the Veras Academy Karate Club, which holds regular classes in Camden and Islington, packed a punch in their latest outing as they finished in third place overall.
Brothers Liam and Luan Veras again stole the show to adde to an already impressive medal haul. Liam, 7, won three golds in the team kata, individual kata and individual fight categories.
Older brother Luan, 8, also struck gold in the team kata and a bronze in the individual fight event.
Jaydon Sullivan, 14, collected two golds and a silver medal, while club-mate Luke Kavanagh won an individual gold and bronze in the team kata.
Adding to the medal count was Archie Gemmell who collected three bronze , while debutants Julia Conti and Max Berg both won bronze in their first competition.
