Martial artists triumphant at the First Kyu Grade English National Championships in Sheffield

A TEAM of 13 martial artists from Shoujin Karate Kai Club enjoyed a mighty medal haul at the First Kyu Grade English National Championships in Sheffield on Sunday
Among the top juniors celebrating was Jaydon Sullivan, who won gold in the boys’ 12-13 years category and bronze in the 10-13 years age group.
Club-mate Luan Veras won bronze in his under-9s category, before joining brother Liam and club-mate Luke Kavanagh to win bronze in the nine-years and under team event.
Stelina Novruzaj took bronze in the girls’ 12-13 years event, while Andrius Stankus collected bronze in the 14-15 years and above age group.
In the senior ranks Patricia Da Silveira won individual silver and bronze medals, while Nicole Hussey won a bronze.
The pair then joined Shaida Khaliq and Bernadette Urrutia to clinch silver and bronze medals in the team events.
Urrutia also picked up an individual bronze in the veterans 35-plus category.
