Many will not want to vote for a candidate who backs the prime minister

• I AGREE with Paul Braithwaite about the poor choice we have at our local elections (Stop democracy dying in Camden, April 14), but I disagree with his suggestion to vote for whichever party seems most likely to challenge Labour.
In my ward it’s a pretty straight Tory / Labour fight. We’ve not had a peep from any other party, so I hope Mr Braithwaite understands that many of us will not want to vote for any candidates who publicly support Boris Johnson.
Johnson has been shown in court to have presided over asset-stripping our public funds for the benefit of cronies.
At the same time his government has also drastically cut public funds to local councils who desperately need them for vital services.
He routinely ignores our constitution and traditions, misleads parliament, disrespects the rule of law, and brushes aside the ministerial code of decency.
Sir Keir Starmer doesn’t lie to suit himself each time he opens his mouth and he does not take money and favours from Russian and others keen to influence how Britain is run.
I am not very impressed with Camden Council, and I hope Sir Keir will soon realise how badly Labour needs a party story to engage voters. But right now Labour, faults and all, will be getting my vote by default.
It may be only a local election but it’s the best way at present I have to show my views.
