A MAN has been rescued from a flat fire in Bloomsbury yesterday evening (Monday).

Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters tackled the blaze at a ground floor flat in Woburn Place. The London Fire Brigade had been called at around 5.20pm and spent more than hour bringing it under control.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus helped the man from the building and he was treated outside by paramedics, who have now taken him to hospital.

Fire crews from Euston, Soho, Islington and Kentish Town fire stations were at scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
