Make them put the wheelie bins back in place, don't block the pathway
Thursday, 27th April 2017
• RECYCLING collection staff should be instructed to comply with council policy and return wheelie bins to “where we placed them” as set out in Veolia’s online policy statement about the newly revised service.
Please place your containers within one metre of your property boundary, as close to the pavement as you can. If you have no space at the front of your property, place containers on the pavement but do not block the pathway. Please bring all containers to street level. “All containers will be returned to where you placed them for collection.”
It is unacceptable to just leave the bins cluttering the pavements after collection. This behaviour takes no account of the fact that people are at work and could possibly be away from their properties for a few days or longer. Does the council wish to see pavements blocked until they can be retrieved by householders? The council’s new contract was introduced with inadequate briefing and training of staff.
It was bad enough that the council decided to reduce the weekly bin collections in selected areas, but we now have a much reduced quality of service – and all this in spite of the 5 per cent increase in our rates!
