MIDFIELDER Max Henry has taken a giant step towards his dream of making it as a professional footballer after being snapped up by League One side Leyton Orient.
The highly-rated 13-year-old first caught the eye while playing for AFC Islington and Camden in the Regent’s Park Youth League. Now the big Arsenal fan, who lives and goes to school in Islington, finds himself training with Orient three times a week and turning out in the club’s colours for games every weekend.
Talking about his move Max said:
“I joined AFC at the beginning of this season and have enjoyed my time there a lot. There is a family-like community at the club and it’s great to be part of it. I am excited to be moving on and it can only help me progress as a footballer.
“The reality of playing academy teams week in week out is great, you are always tested and it’s different every week. I just want to keep learning.
“I know this is one chance with no certainties but I am going to take everything I can from it and, hopefully, one day play Premier League football.”
AFC Islington and Camden are always searching for players aged seven to 14 years old.
