A PIONEERING football game aimed at forcing players to think quickly on their feet is set to score a bigger audience than ever before after netting a lottery grant of almost £50,000.

Launched by coaches Charles Browne and Michael Lyle, 2TR Football is a four-a-side competition played without a goalkeeper that encourages outfield players to be fully involved and improve their teamwork.

The game is becoming so popular that Charles and Michael have been working with pupils from William Ellis and Haverstock School (above) to develop new coaches and referees.

“We’re delighted with how popular 2TR Football is becoming,” said Charles, who is based at the Highgate Newtown Community Centre. “We’ve received funding of £47,300 which will be used to buy a mobile pitch so that we can travel around Camden and Islington hosting events and competitions.”
