Look who pays for the damage to pavements and roads

• I HAVE cycled or walked through the stretch of road from Adelaide Road via Harley Road / Elsworthy Road to Avenue Road almost daily for the past 18 years.
I know the cracks, crevices, humps and bumps on these roads and pavements like the back of my hand. Over the past few years, major developers, building basements, carrying out refurbishments and extensions have destroyed the roads and pavements.
I gave all the details to Camden Council to inform them of the damage done by these refurbishments and basement extension works, caused by soil lorries, HGVs, diggers, dump trucks etc. When I told the council, they told me that the damage was not so severe to warrant repairs.
I asked why had Camden not procured a deposit for potential damage before granting planning permission for refurbishments at the Marriott Hotel, which went on for nearly two years but were finished by August 15 2017?
Camden claimed they overlooked taking a “damage deposit” before granting planning permission and would not pursue the developer to make good the damage.
Having denied any repairs were needed to the dipping road surface Camden are now repairing the cracks caused by the contractors. Who foots the bill? As usual, the council taxpayer! Now you know why the council tax bill is increasing.
