• WHEN Camden Council recently closed the public toilets in Camden Town, they almost caused (unwittingly, I’m sure) the demise of this aged pensioner.

Suddenly “taken short”, I ventured to the sanctuary of the portaloos behind St Michael’s Church in Camden Road.

Two were locked but opening the unlocked door of the third imagine my shock when a completely naked young lady exclaimed: “Oh, I am sorry. I’m just having a wash down.”

So thank you, Camden, for reopening the High Street men’s toilets, renovated and sparkling, thus averting a possible repeat scenario and a cardiac arrest.
