Look at the benefits of drying garden waste in the sun

• IS there a constructive response to garden waste collection charges (mentioned in various recent letters)?

Although my local authority is not yet charging I am experimenting with drying garden waste in the sun before piling it up against some of the ground-floor walls of my house to act as an insulator (just as some people buy straw bales for insulation).

Air bricks etc are left unobstructed. A triple-win situation is in prospect: lower fuel bills, my carbon footprint reduced and any future waste charges avoided. Don’t waste waste?
