Local Tories celebrate Brexit without a care in the world!

• WHEN 75 per cent of Camden backed the campaign to remain in the EU, we sent a clear message about our values as a borough.

I was therefore disgusted to read in the New Journal that Jacob Rees-Mogg was recently invited to speak at a local Conservative branch dinner. Famously a Brexiteer, the Tory MP has consistently dismissed concerns regarding our chaotic exit from the EU, and last month Mr Rees-Mogg even voted against guaranteeing the residence rights of EU nationals already living in the UK.

Meanwhile our MP Tulip Siddiq bravely resigned from the Labour front bench, voted against triggering Article 50 and has repeatedly spoken up in parliament for the 17,000 EU citizens living in Hampstead and Kilburn.

While those constituents face years of heartache and uncertainty over their status, the Hampstead Tories are celebrating Brexit without a care in the world.
