AN emerging youth football tournament is calling on teams across Camden and Islington to help make their upcoming competition the biggest one yet.
Organisers One Housing Group (OHG) are busy making the final preparations for the fourth annual One Youth Cup, which gets underway on August 20. Four days of thrilling action will kick off with the under-8s age category, followed by the under-10s, under-12s and under-14s.
The teams that top their groups will then return on the Friday (August 25) for the grand finals at Haverstock School in Haverstock Hill, Chalk Farm.
Youth Development Officer Ash Rahman is hoping the five-a-side cup will help extend the spirit of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
“We want everyone to get involved and prolong a summer of cheer,” he said.
“The competition is open to boys’teams, girls’ team and even mixed teams.
We want to embody the spirit of the Olympic Games and get as many players as possible involved.
“Whether you’re an established youth team, a play centre group or a parent that just wants to put a side together, sign up and take part.
“Our competition is going from strength to strength. We’re promoting unity, togetherness and bringing the fun back to football.
It’s not about being the best team or winning trophies, and that can only be a good thing,” he said.
Anyone interested in the tournament should email arahman@onehousinggroup .co.uk or phone 07966 643 106 for an application form.
