• IT was good and timely to read your article on Saint Francis of Assisi, (Saint Ecology, Review, May 11).

Next week (May 21 to 28) is Laudato Si’ week with the theme of Hope for the Earth, Hope for Humanity, which marks the eighth anniversary of Pope Francis’s landmark encyclical on care for creation.

The Pope based that encyclical on Saint Francis’s canticle Praise Be to You Oh Lord, which reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life. This global celebration will unite Catholics to recommit to implementing actions to restore and protect Mother Earth.

At St Thomas More Church in Swiss Cottage on Thursday May 25 we will be showing the film The Letter which tells the story of a journey to Rome by front-line environmentalists from around the world to discuss with the Pope the progress being made in their countries, and the scale of the task ahead.

We hope it will inform and inspire parishioners on the crucial issue of climate justice.
