WITH another season in the top flight of the Middlesex County Cricket League already secured, players from Hampstead and North Middlesex won’t be too concerned that their current campaigns ended in defeats on Saturday.

On another day, half centuries from George Adair, Mubasher Hassan and Freddie Fairhead would have made Hampstead’s score of 285 off 52.5 overs, away at Twickenham, a winning one. But against a side that finished just four points behind champions Teddington, it wasn’t quite enough as they lost by 49 runs.

Rhys Davies top-scored for the hosts with 86 off 119 balls as they were bowled out for 334 within 53 overs, a total that somewhat overshadowed Liam Hughes’s bowling display for Hampstead which saw him take five wickets for just 33 runs.

Meanwhile, the battle of the century-makers ended in defeat for North Middlesex as they lost by 90 runs away at Ealing.

Robert White stole the show as he hit 120 runs off 139 balls, including 16 fours, as the hosts scored 298 off 62.5 overs.

Evan Flowers did his best to match White, however, as he scored 107 off 120 balls, smashing nine fours and three sixes along the way.

In the end his efforts just weren’t enough as North Midd were bowled out for 208.
