Council leader Georgia Gould
• KENTISH Town has no less than five councillors, including the Labour royalty leader of Camden, Georgia Gould, but I submit they are pathetic.
For every single week of this year until May 20 Kentish Town Road has mostly been a stationary parking lot, with utterly dire consequences for local air quality and every day causing wasted hours of thousands of people’s lives.
The focus is always at the lights at the junction with Prince of Wales Road, with multiple Thames Water leaks, its replacement of major pipeworks and the construction site of the old Carpetright store. On and on it’s rumbled, putting the Duracell bunny to shame!
Meanwhile our local councillors kept their heads down in their silo. What, you may ask, have they actually done for Kentish Town?
Instead of supervising and disciplining Thames Water and the construction company, they’ve instigated a petition – to get a replacement bus stop opposite the tube station!
They’ve passively accepted this draconian, year-long, tube station closure which will cause much more and long-lasting misery and damage to the local economy.
Week after week the pages of the CNJ contain genuinely constructive suggestions to our council but it appears these good ideas are neither taken up nor even listened to.
There’s an inward-facing disposition from our self-serving council which comes with the complacency from Labour having over 80 per cent of the council seats.
Labour seems more concerned with its woke agenda than serving the community. We can live in hope that Georgia Gould gets gifted a safe parliamentary seat and Danny Beales beats the odious Boris Johnson.
Then Camden could look to a more enlightened future, where the scrutiny process commands the respect it deserves and citizens are listened to – or am I dreaming?
