Sir Keir Starmer

To Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour Party National Executive Committee

• FOLLOWING the leaked internal report into the Labour Party’s Governance and Legal Unit, in relation to anti-Semitism we the undersigned want to express our hurt and shock at the unprofessional, and frankly, hostile actions of members of Labour Party staff and former staff.

As members of Holborn & St Pancras CLP, we have worked tirelessly for a Labour government and in 2017 came within 2,500 votes of succeeding. We have campaigned, trod the streets and donated money to get Jeremy Corbyn into No 10.

Many of us had suspicions that there were those in the top echelons of the LP who were working against us and… all our suspicions were confirmed.

Corbyn’s chances, and the possibility of a better society for ourselves and our children, had been sabotaged. We, the members, have paid our dues and we deserve better.

Sir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner issued a joint statement calling for an investigation with its emphasis on how the leak happened. We won’t accept a cover up or a whitewash!

We demand that the Labour leadership:

1. officially publish the full report;

2 publicly condemn the behaviour exposed in the report;

3. convene an emergency NEC meeting to discuss the report and set up a transparent process with clear parameters for an investigation which includes scrutiny of the behaviour of former leading members of staff, prior to 2017 and afterwards. The inquiry should look carefully at the possible misuse of Labour Party funds;

4. expeditiously produce and publish the results of the investigation in order to restore the confidence of members in the LP and its structures; and,

5. commit to ensuring that those found to have worked against a Labour victory, including MPs, never hold office in the LP again and/or have the whip removed.

In solidarity,

GARETH MURPHY, MARY O’SULLIVAN, RIVA JOFFE, ANDREW FEINSTEIN, SHEZAN RENNY, PAUL RENNY, DIANE PEARSON, RUTH APPLETON, JULIAN HOUGH, KUMIKO SHIMIZU, HARRIET EVANS
