LAURENT Koscielny has insisted that Arsene Wenger is very much “still the man” to lead Arsenal to glory.

The issue seems to have divided fans. During Saturday’s 2-0 win at Everton a growing section of away supporters were holding up banners calling for Wenger to go.

The speculation on the Frenchman’s future is now so out of control that even midfielder Mesut Ozil has had to come out and deny reports that he would leave if Wenger stays this summer.

Koscielny says he can understand why fans are frustrated but he believes that a little luck would change the mood hanging over the Emirates Stadium.

“Wenger has been at the club for a while now. The banners are not something new for him,” he said. “He’s very calm. He knows what he has done for the club over the years.

“The coach is still the man to help us, maybe with a little luck, to win the championship.

“I can understand the frustration of the fans, having not won the championship for a long time. In any case we try by all means each season to lift the trophy. However everything is not under our control. The club has to deal with injuries and periods of poor form.

“There is a small chance this season, mathematically it’s still possible. We must win all our matches and see what happens.”
