KING’S Cross Hurricanes are continuing to blow up a gale in the Chalk Farm Pool League as they look to end Sir Robert Peel’s Division One dominance.

Alp Sezer’s side made it 12 wins in 13 games on Monday night when they swept aside Golden Lion in a one-sided encounter on the Lion’s home table in Royal College Street, Camden Town.

The Hurricanes were threatening to chalk up a whitewash as they breezed into a 5-0 lead. But, to their credit, the Lions clawed back some pride by winning three of the final four frames to finish with a more respectable 6-3 defeat.

The result leaves The Hurricanes four points behind current league leaders Boston Arms. But with a game in hand against the struggling Peckwater Playboys, they’re still very much favourites to be the team to end Peel’s four-year winning streak.

However, Boston Arms are not going to surrender top spot quietly – as they proved on Monday night by pocketing a resounding 8-1 victory over King’s Cross Hawks.

Peel are third in the table, seven points off the pace, following their 6-3 win over the Boston Rimmers.
