A TRIUMPHANT team of talented young cricketers have won a memorable day out at Lord’s after securing their place in the grand finals of the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games Indoor Cricket Championships.

The Camden boys’ team beat rivals Richmond upon Thames and Brent to remain unbeaten and top Group H in the qualifiers on Saturday, at Harrow Leisure Centre.

As a reward for their efforts, they will now get the chance to play at the Home of Cricket alongside seven other boroughs on March 1.

Team manager Philip Bowden was bowled over by the boys’ performance, especially after watching them beat Richmond by just one wicket in what was a must-win game.

“It was tough because we knew that they were a very good side and it would be very tight, and it was very tight,” he said.

“We thought from the start that Richmond was the match that we had to win if we were going to qualify.

“At the moment we’re all quite relieved because it was a very close match. In fact, both our matches were close.

“We’re all really looking forward to the finals.”
