MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE

BOWLER Zak Khan turned Hampstead’s potential blushes into celebrations on Saturday as he helped turn a measly total into a winning score in Division One of the County League.

With Ben Scott posting a top knock of just 42, a score of 134 off 52 overs left Hampstead facing a costly slip-up in the title race as they took on struggling Stanmore.

Khan had other ideas, however, as he put in a commanding display with the ball to take six wickets at the expense of just 26 runs in a devastating 10-over spell. His efforts saw Stanmore bowled out for just 108 runs to earn Hampstead what at one point looked a very unlikely 26-run victory. The result leaves them unbeaten after seven games and just two points behind leaders Ealing.

THERE was another eye- catching bowling display in Division Two as North Middlesex recorded a comfortable seven-wicket win over Harrow Town.

Ed Bird took 5-14 off 9.4 overs as Harrow were skittled out for just 100 runs within 38 overs. North Midd wasted little time chasing down their target as respective scores of 28 and 25 not out from John Mills and Adam Evans Holmes saw them reach a winning score of 103-3 off 21 overs.

IN Division Three Carman Mapatuna and Syed Muazam Ali both regularly found the boundary as Highgate beat Indian Gymkhana by 78 runs.

Mapatuna scored 43 off 68 balls and Ali hit 41 off 117 balls, both recording five fours along the way, as Highgate scored 167-7 from their 55 overs.

A solid team-effort in the field saw Tony Duckett take 4-13, Craig Gourlay claim 3-25 and Freddie Barrass collect 3-42 as Indian Gymkhana were bowled out for 89 within 29 overs.
