Regis Road is set to be redeveloped as a mini Hollywood

• THE proposed Camden Film Quarter is certain to attract all shades of opinion, (Kentish Town could be rival to Tinseltown, November 9).

That’s why it is vital that residents engage with the relevant planning and consultation processes (Tinseltown? We need a plan that will benefit all our people, November 16).

Regis Road business area (the site of the film quarter proposals) falls under the Kentish Town Neighbourhood Plan, which sets out local priorities that developers should respect.

The plan was approved by referendum in 2016, based on priorities drawn up over the preceding four years, so the neighbourhood forum is embarking on a long-term process to update it.

We are keen to hear what people who live and work in Kentish Town think about our neighbourhood: the good, the bad and the ugly.

How can the plan be updated to address today’s pressures and opportunities? Should the forum’s remit in future reflect the boundaries of the new Kentish Town North and South council wards?

We will be consulting at the innovative pop-up charity poster sale being organised by Camdenist from today until Sunday in the former Polytechnic of North London building at 187 Kentish Town Road. Please come and share your views.

The poster sale, with workshops and film screenings (including winners of the Kentish Town short film competition), aims to energise the empty space that was supposed to be converted into a cinema as a condition of the planning permission for redeveloping the building into luxury flats.

A decade on and Kentish Towners are still waiting for their local film and arts venue because the developer, Vabel, hasn’t been able to find a cinema operator willing to pay the rent it wants to charge.

If Kentish Town is to get a cinema and achieve the best outcome from the redevelopment of Regis Road and the neighbouring Murphy site, we need a strong, relevant local plan and active residents who are keen to enforce it.

Come and speak to KTNF to find out how you can get involved. https://ktnf.org/
