Keep your distance – 2metres
Friday, 1st May 2020
• AMONG the half-truths the government is promulgating to keep us “positive” and “motivated” is the notion that we are respecting the two-metre social distancing.
They have no idea.
In Kentish Town where I live, people don’t move to the side of narrow pavements and come within two feet in shops, especially if they are wearing masks.
I spend most of my walking time in the road, not on the pavement, and have to remind people in shops (of course, I get dirty looks).
It is not difficult to maintain a two-metre distance if you are trying, but most people round here do not try. That even includes the manager of a supermarket wearing a “2m” badge.
Today I got my first “thank you” for waiting for someone to pass through a narrow passage, although I must have avoided or waited for at least 100 people since the lockdown.
I dread to think what will happen when the lockdown is eased as so many clueless people are suggesting, putting money before lives.
By the way, I’m 75, so all this matters to me.
