Keep up the campaigning, CNJ, well done

• IN a world where the press often seem unable or unwilling to speak out freely against injustice, the New Journal stands out as a beacon of what a local paper should be.

It never fails to point out injustices inflicted on the weakest and most defenceless members of our society. It also campaigns fearlessly on behalf of the planet, whether defending green spaces or individual trees.

It points out failings of individual councillors, but without promoting vendettas. It defends the rights of small businesses, charities, and individuals in the face of attacks by commercial interests. It highlights the suffering of victims of council cutbacks or unfair landlords. And its voice is heard all over the borough.

Long may it continue to thrive!
