• AS noted in the CNJ, a group of us protested outside Highgate Road Chapel about a fund-raiser for SPUC which was happening inside.

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children is an organisation whose aim is to pressurise our government to make all abortion illegal.

The result of such aggressive campaigning groups can be seen in the USA now where abortion has been ruled illegal in half of the states. A 10-year-old American girl who had been raped was recently denied the legal right to have an abortion.

We protesters have a straight-forward view: it is a woman’s right to choose what she does to her body, and it is not the right of church nor state to tell her what to do with her body.

When a country makes abortion illegal, the number of back-street abortions go up, and the numbers dying from back-street abortions too. That’s why we were making our pro-choice views known outside that coffee morning. Keep abortion legal and keep it safe.
