MARTIAL artists from the Veras Academy hit the jackpot on Sunday when they won 23 medals at the Wado-Kai Open Championships, which were held in Leicester. 

A 19-strong karate crew from across Camden and Islington proved they were top of the chops as they returned home from the prestigious tournament with nine golds, seven silvers and seven bronze medals. 

Sensei Raphael Veras said, “I was very happy with all the students’ performances, particularly with the little ones. I would like to thank all the parents for coming along to show their support.”
