Highgate village has become cluttered with plastic laminated signs

Thursday, 24th October 2024

• I WRITE to express my concern about the recent fly-posting practices employed by the Highgate Society for its events.

The beautiful streets of Highgate village, particularly our high street and square, have become cluttered with plastic laminated signs on nearly every lamp-post.

This not only detracts from the village’s charm but also contributes to environmental pollution.

While I understand the importance of publicising events, there are more appropriate channels for doing so.

Our village has several noticeboards that are well-suited for announcements and would preserve the aesthetic integrity of our community.

As an organisation that positions itself as a champion of Highgate’s history and preservation, it is disappointing to see the Highgate Society engaging in practices that contradict its mission.

I urge them to consider more responsible ways to promote their events, ensuring that our village remains the beautiful place we all cherish.
