• IT’S Christmas! And what a jolly good time to shut down two vital bus stops in Eversholt Street so that whichever of the privatised bunch of buffoons, Thames Water, British Gas, whoever, can dig one of their precious little holes and do what they do very well (yes they do something well!) which is to disrupt, inconvenience and generally bugger up the lives of the people they took the utility from in the first place.

For two weeks, just before Christmas. I’ll repeat that: two weeks, if the information proffered by one of the workmen is true.

Two weeks of watching the hole being dug, worked in and filled in again, yards and yards away from two perfectly accessible bus stops, closed for the greater ease of the utility, while the rest of the little people can damn well walk.

Oh, and then charge us higher prices in the new year. Happy bloody Christmas!
