Plaque at the former Hampstead home of Cosman and Keller
• BEST known for her drawings of musicians and dancers, Milein Cosman founded The Cosman Keller Art and Music Trust, in 2006 with Julian Hogg as its chair, a role he fulfilled for 15 years until the end of Milein’s centenary year.
The history and work of the trust, and Julian’s indispensable role, is well documented on the trust’s website, including a full obituary of Julian’s life and work.
Milein’s archive is now housed at Tate Britain and there are ongoing exhibition and digital projects at the Royal College of Music and Salzburg university.
Many drawings can be accessed through Google arts and culture.
The Wigmore Hall are not at present displaying their musicians’ collection but it is available on the trust website.
Dr Ines Schlenker’s Capturing Time (Prestel) chronicles the life and times and varied oeuvre of this remarkable Hampstead artist.
None of this rich documentation of Milein’s work and that of her husband, broadcaster and music scholar Hans Keller, would have been possible without the indefatigable endeavours and good humour of Julian Hogg.
