ARSENAL Ladies boss Pedro Martinez Losa hailed two-goal heroine Jordan Nobbs following her “fantastic” player-of-the-match performance in the Continental Cup final.
The England vice-captain scored a fine solo goal before unleashing a 25-yard thunderbolt as the Gunners beat rivals Notts County 3-0 at the New York Stadium on Sunday to capture the cup for the fourth time in five years.
Nobbs had been sidelined with a hamstring injury after the Women’s World Cup in Canada but fought her way back into Arsenal’s starting line-up, and Losa was delighted with her contribution in Sunday’s showpiece.
“Jordan was fantastic,” Losa told Arsenal Player. “Obviously when one player scores two goals it is easy to evaluate her but you can’t just evaluate that one performance.
“The character she brings to the team, we were missing her a lot when she was injured and now since she has come back we have won all of our games. She is a good player who doesn’t just score goals, she makes the team better. She makes the other players better.”
The Continental Cup is the first piece of silverware Losa has won since arriving in English football, and the Spaniard couldn’t be more happy. “It is my first trophy in England and I have a few more in America and Spain. I’m very happy to bring trophies for this club,” he added.
“The last trophy that you win is always the best one, especially for me.
“I’m expecting to stay a long time working for this club so it is important to win the first one. The players all deserve it.”
