HOW can we tackle the rough sleeping crisis in north London?

Join lawyers, outreach workers, housing officers, doctors, members of the Greater London Authority and the Camden New Journal for a critical discussion on tackling homelessness.

Hosted by Streets Kitchen, this community forum is open to anyone concerned about people sleeping on the streets and to those experiencing homelessness.

Three talks – covering health, legislation and the Sadiq Khan’s plan to end homelessness in the capital by 2030 – will take place at Islington Council, in Upper Street, from 2pm to 5.30pm this Saturday (February 8). It is free to attend.

If you’d like to join, sign up through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/addressing-rough-sleeping-in-north-london-a-community-forum-tickets-1205670536029

Legal discussion: 2-3pm

This talk will look at key legislation affecting those experiencing homelessness, such as the Vagrancy Act, PSPOs, and CPNs. With human rights organisation Liberty, law firm Hodge Jones & Allen, Streets Kitchen Legal Clinic and others.

Health discussion: 3.15-4.15pm

This section examines barriers to accessing healthcare and how to navigate existing systems and support with Groundswell, Find & Treat and other health provision services.

Panel discussion: 4.30-5.30pm

The day will end with a discussion on the London Mayor’s ambitious plans to end rough sleeping by 2030. Hear from Tom Copley (GLA Deputy Mayor for Housing), Ian Swift (Islington Council Housing Director), Carla Ecola (Outside Project), Jacob Quagliozzi (Housing Justice Director), and Jon Glackin (Streets Kitchen).
