ANOTHER week, another high-profile politician jumps ship to Reform UK.

It appears the apparently resurgent party is open to anyone joining their ranks ahead of the coming council elections. Even me!

Just before Christmas I got a mysterious answerphone message asking if I would consider being a candidate in the elections. A rather polite man asked if I could call back to register my interest for standing in my ward in Camden.

Initially assuming this was a prank or a scam, I contacted the party to ask what-in-the-Farage was going on. It emerged my contact details were on their system due to an earlier press request, “albeit some time ago”.

I had contacted Reform UK around a year ago to enquire about a large boat that had been impounded by Camden Council. Towed from outside Sir Keir Starmer’s former home just days before the 2024 general election, it had anti-ULEZ messages on it and some defamatory statements about the London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

I’m told my contact details have now been removed from Reform calling lists in future.
