Jeremy Corbyn is for inclusivity

Thursday, 5th November 2020

• A REPORT finds that in a group there was an element of racism which could have been dealt with more promptly and effectively. Sadly, but far from uniquely, applying to the Labour Party.

I, and no doubt many who have experienced Jeremy Corbyn at work, have seen a man who is not “anti” anything but for inclusivity, as evidenced by having been re-elected time and time again in one of the most diverse but cohesive of constituencies with a high percentage of the votes; and not least by the diversity including those Jewish present at a reception of his I attended at Portcullis House.

But voters further afield do not have the benefit of this personal knowledge which is pervaded by the attitude of much of the national media.

So what is Sir Keir Starmer to do but be seen by that media not to have turned a blind eye to the report? His need, as was that of his predecessor, is to draw people into consensus, nationally, people who may otherwise vote against it.

Let us hope that Jeremy Corbyn can be brought into it again shortly, a week being a long time in politics.

In the meanwhile Jeremy is not going to vote for the party whose leader derided Muslim women for looking like letter-boxes and whose front-bench Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster derided the Macpherson Report.
