No 10 downing street

‘Metropolitan councils should all have joined forces and taken the argument to the source: 10 and 11 Downing Street!’

• I HAVE spent much of the last few decades asking why Camden Council – Labour-controlled for these decades – was cutting vital services, closing care homes, doing dirty deals with developers, and whingeing about cuts in government grants instead of fighting the Tory governments who are imposing the cuts, (Bills, bills, bills… tax is going up, March 7).

These cuts now total more than 40 per cent, yet Camden use this only as an excuse for all their lousy actions instead of taking the fight to the Tory government’s active austerity policies and long-term aim to undermine public services.

Most metropolitan councils are also Labour-controlled but struggling, and a couple of Conservative-controlled have even gone bankrupt, so they should all have joined forces and taken the argument to the source: 10 and 11 Downing Street!

Local councils provide many services which people depend on for survival. It’s time to fight the Tory cuts!

Oh, and while I am here, can anyone tell us what is happening with the 100 Avenue Road “development”, now well into its third year of inactivity?

A prime site which could be used to build some affordable flats for our community, not fancy flats for some foreign billionaires.
