It's shocking that Camden Council has rubber-stamped a new tower block

• IT’S shocking that Camden Council rubber-stamped permission for a new tower block, near to Chalcots estate, at 100 Avenue Road, despite unresolved and serious safety concerns.

This tower is to be built under existing building and fire safety regulations – there is no legal requirement to test cladding used in private sector blocks.

The rash decision to push through the application to proceed with the development was made on June 15, just one day after the Grenfell Tower fire despite requests from Camden residents that the hearing be adjourned out of respect for victims.

There needs to be an immediate moratorium on this block, and all tall buildings, whatever the planning stage, until after the outcome of the Grenfell inquiry.
