It's like having a diesel truck idling outside my house for nine hours a day

Extracts from a letter to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Camden Council environment officers & Sir Keir Starmer MP
• SINCE January this year I’ve had a container parked outside my house… housing an office and toilet of workmen, working for Camden Council, who are doing up the housing block next door to my house…
The container has a diesel generator running inside from 8am, sometimes earlier, all day long. I, and my neighbours, have made numerous complaints about the noise and pollution to the council and directly to the workmen, to no avail.
In January I was told the work would only take two weeks but they are still here and I am being constantly lied to about when it will be finished. The point is that I suffer from asthma, as does my grandchild who I look after every few days.
This engine is the equivalent of having a diesel truck parked right outside my door, with the engine running, nine hours a day. The noise is intolerable and far more importantly the fumes fill my house and cause me breathing difficulties.
This situation goes completely contrary to the efforts by the Mayor of London and Camden Council to improve air quality as stated on Camden’s website: www.camden.gov.uk/tackling-engine-idling.
I look forward to swift efforts to deal with this issue, please.
