It’s a good time to heal the rifts among us
Thursday, 10th December 2020
• SPECIAL pleading by any group always attracts hostility but I’m sad that the attempt by some churches to get services allowed aroused such hostility and disrespect from some of your correspondents, (including Albert Beale and George Curley).
It’s nearly Christmas, so the focus is on Christianity, when we have the chance to celebrate and sing about peace and love for mankind.
But all faiths were founded in love, sadly too often undermined by being “organised” by man, with our desire for power.
Clearly your correspondents have been adversely affected by whatever connection they had with church in the past, which is sad.
Certainly, in my church, we have kept our worship online or, when allowed, carefully controlled inside the buildings to keep us all safe out of love for our neighbours.
I do hope in this season, more people will hear “the news the angels bring”, a beautiful carol encouraging peace and love and giving us glorious music to heal rifts among us.
