It’ll be cold turkey for the ‘Technician’

The Technician with coach CJ Hussein after the McGuiness win
Published: 17 December, 2015
WHEN it comes to a little seasonal indulgence, welterweight Kian “The Technician” Thomas isn’t asking for a lot this Christmas.
The 24-year-old, who lives in Tufnell Park, says that what he’s looking forward to more than anything is “pigs in blankets and a little bit of stuffing” on Christmas day.
That’s because Kian has already earmarked a return to the ring at the end of January, so he can’t afford to relax like the rest of us.
“I’ll enjoy time with my friends and family that’s for sure,” he said. “But I’ll still be training every day, and will even be going for a run on Christmas day.
“I’ll save my celebrating for when I win a title.”
All the hard work that Kian is putting in is certainly paying off as The Technician stopped Scotland’s JP McGuiness in his last fight just 49 seconds into the second round of their contest at the Camden Centre in King’s Cross.
“It was a good contest because he came to fight, so I didn’t really have to worry about being held or headbutted,” said Kian, who has now won four out of four in the paid ranks.
“Having an opponent who is willing to trade is better for me because it allows me to fight to my strengths.
“I dropped him twice in the opening round, and then stopped him after just 49 seconds in the second, which is a great result. It’s what I train twice a day, every day for.”
