Kenwood House
• I THINK it was shabby of English Heritage to shut Kenwood.
The public understands the house and facilities are a reasonable case for closure. But why close the dozens of sprawling green acres and wood in the middle of Hampstead Heath?
It’s akin to Lambeth Council hiding behind “police advice” to close Brockwell Park. Lambeth should have told the police to “do their job” and enforce the law but keep that hugely valuable park open. Fortunately Camden Council has a more robust and healthier attitude.
Can I also add criticism of the Heath constabulary’s incomprehensible insistence on patrolling in their wretched vehicles?
Why are they not on bicycles, horses, or on foot? They’d lose those excess tubby pounds most of their plods seem to have added from their sedentary positions.
