PLAYERS from Regent’s Park FC have shrugged off any talk of superstitions after unveiling brand new kits ahead of what they hope will be a historic trophy haul.

The team are within touching distance of being crowned Premier League champions in the Islington Midweek League. They are also still in the hunt for no fewer than four cups as they close in on what has been described as “an unthinkable quintuple”.

With so much success looming, manager Des Casey, who runs the team with Paul Badman, admits he thought it might have been a risky time to make any changes.

“With superstitions being what they are I wasn’t sure if I should bring in new home and away kits now or just wait until next season,” he said.

“But in the end we held a vote and it turns out it was only me who was worried about it, the players are confident that nothing is going to stop them celebrating this season. So now not only are we playing the part of champions having not lost a game all season but we’re dressed for success too. There’s still a little superstition lurking about, however, so we’re not talking about the quintuple just yet.”
