It can be a long walk to the bus

• IN 1957 Flanders and Swann – Michael and Donald – sang about a London Transport omnibus but they probably reckoned without the numerous “providers” whose work on the road system causes Transport for London to close down bus stops.
If you are elderly, incapacitated, or pushing a pram or sholley, then you may have to walk hundreds of metres because your bus stop has been closed down.
Take the area around Kentish Town West Overground, in Prince of Wales Road. The bus stops in both directions have been closed by Talacre Gardens. So if you want to leave the gardens, or enter them, you could not do so without walking from or to another bus stop.
Noticing the removal of a new cycling lane I was told by an operative that cyclists had complained that the original was bumpy so they were replacing it! I ask myself, who is paying for all this work? Probably the council, or TfL. And who pays them? I guess we do!
Finally, I guess it is good that those temporary bus signs have put in an appearance after many years in a “storage unit in Hertfordshire”, or somewhere similar.
They do at least save our legs!
