• SALLY Gimson refers to cold war Berlin as a possible analogy to the post-Brexit arrangement at the Eurostar St Pancras terminal, (Will a no deal Brexit mean a hard border at St Pancras station?, August 16).

While I’ve heard numerous unlikely scenarios touted recently, the creation of a border across which innocent citizens might be shot in cold blood is indeed a new one. Truly the hardest of hard Brexits.

While there is much to be settled prior to the UK’s departure from the EU, a modicum less hysteria would not go amiss from those who oppose the referendum outcome.
