Is this worth it for ‘superfast’ broadband?
Thursday, 30th September 2021
• THE rain in Kentish Town is slowly shifting some of the dust and sand that has obscured until now the results of damage, noise and vibration dumped on us by contractors laying pipes beneath the road which will carry G Network’s fibre broadband.
Scars of multiple trenches crisscross the previously pristine road (resurfaced less than a year ago) are becoming visible. We’ve already seen the damage done to trees by machinery and lorries trundling along the gutters.
I hope the few people in this residential street who actually need “superfast” broadband think it’s all worth it.
But there is an upside. The mutilation is visible because the parking ban here remains in force even though the contractors have gone, so the street is completely clear of cars and is lovely (as long as you don’t look at the road surface).
Thank you Camden. Can we make the ban permanent please?
