• IS there or is there not a climate emergency?

If your house has flooded this week or your roof has blown off you probably think there is. But if you had attended the General Committee of Holborn and St Pancras Labour Party this week you would think that climate change was not a particularly important issue at all.

Despite Camden declaring a climate emergency in 2019 members of the GC decided to vote against a motion brought by the Transport and Salaried Staffs’ Association union to instal a non-voting climate emergency officer to take on the burning issues within Camden and wider afield.

Even high-profile cabinet members voted against the motion, which was overwhelmingly defeated. No doubt the Green Party will be laughing all the way to the ballot box!
