NazaninRatcliffe

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe with her husband Richard

• HOW very tragic is the situation for Richard and Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, notwithstanding their daughter and the grandparents in Iran.

When I was there, now 62 years ago, the family was a very important part of the communities. I find it strange that the Iranian government have not had the understanding how much good they could do for themselves were they to release Nazanin immediately.

I imagine that the strain of keeping a very young child happy and occupied, while having the added anxiety for their daughter must be extremely difficult for the parents of Nazanin. Plus the fact that they are probably not very young must be very hard for them, on top of everything else.

My sympathies go out to them all, and I hope this situation will soon be resolved in the correct manner.
