In praise of the council’s speedy response

• HERE is a “good news” and “thank you” story about Camden Council services.
On Saturday afternoon a vehicle knocked down one of our prized (listed on Camden’s Local List of Heritage artefacts) lamp-posts.
It is probably well over 150 years old and one of a set in our road. I rang the council’s emergency number and a contractor came out to make it safe as electric wires were exposed.
Then UK Power came and disconnected the main power and safely stored the pieces and made the pavement area safe.
I then emailed a council officer (Sunday) and by 7.30am on Monday he was on the case. We did have to wait around a bit for the contractors to arrive but that is understandable at the weekend.
The Camden officer concerned (I hesitate to name him to spare his embarrassment) has an awesome record of repairing speedily damaged and unsafe street furniture and pavements. We look forward to our restored light.
